After months of research, late nights trying to squeeze the best players into the 11m salary cap, The Tragic has finally come up with a squad of 30 that he is happy with.
There have been several changes since my initial team reveal last week, mainly due to the team sheets yesterday and player's being named in positions that I was hoping for.
Note - I have spent exactly my full 11m salary cap and have a total bank balance of $0.
READ ON BELOW...
OUT: Shaw IN: Laird
Feel that Laird will play some sort of midfield role and potentially become a 100+ average player for the season. Shaw hasn't got the greatest record on the teams he plays at the start of the season. Plus, his average in 2016 was boosted by a couple of monster scores - not necessarily as consistent as what Laird can be. Safe trade to cash grab 25k.
OUT: Mills IN: Z. Jones
Jones comes in as I was waiting for him to be named somewhere in the midfield and it looks like he will be starting on a wing this week. Still like Mills for a breakout and I think he is still a solid option - though Jones saves me 110K to use elsewhere.
OUT: Sam Powell Pepper IN: Tom Stewart (Hibberd moved to midfield)
SPP will be serviceable as a mid this year, though I think a 150k rookie like Barrett won't be far off him, if not averaging more than SPP. So why pay and extra 66k? Money to spend elsewhere. Barrett steps up to M8.
OUT: Treloar IN: Dangerfield
Purely based on the fact I think Dangerfield will again be the number one fantasy scorer and averaging player this season. I had the money saved from the trades made above and I've used it wisely. Still think Treloar makes top 6 mids by year's end however. Danger becomes my perma captain.
OUT: Gaff IN: Pendlebury
I erred on Gaff for a long time, though I like his consistency, his tackles average kept bothering me. I like players that can fill a stat sheet and Gaff doesn't provide this. As long as Gaff goes under 2 tackles per game average, he won't be topping a 105 average by year's end. Pendles is a proven 110+ scorer who carried injuries last season to still end up with a 106 average...can go 110 again, but if not, he's still a lock for 105 at least. Plus he's a great POD.
OUT: Heppell IN: Fyfe
Made this trade based on Fyfe's supremacy over the competition, plus looking at his first 13 rounds of 2015 made me need him in the team. Looked amazing in JLT 3 and although is a very popular pick this year, it's justified.
OUT: Hunter IN: D. Cameron
Though Cameron is currently out with an infected finger, he still presents as a more likely debut player than Hunter...plus he still has DPP if I need to switch Nankervis into the ruck at any time.
OUT: Turner IN: Hoskin-Elliott
Flip of the coin this one, but based it on the fact that the Pies have De Goey out for perhaps up to 10 rounds, then Greenwood out for 5-6 and Elliott. WHE should see enough time in the seniors to make enough cash. Turner...could be a case of one bad game and he's out. Though, I think both with average similar if playing.
