Every good fantasy coach has team rules, little rules that we ingrain into our minds that inevitably shape our teams. I mean, what sort of a ship would we be running if we didn't have some rules in place?
Before we start officially shuffling the magnets on our team boards in a few weeks, I've come up with a list of team rules (or commandments) that I like to follow when deciding my selections both prior and during the season.
Here we go, in no particular order...
#10 Thou Shall Not: Initially select more than two starting players from the same AFL team across any line.
#9 Thou Shall Not: Select players over the age limit of 32.
#8 Thou Shall Not: Select mid priced players (unless they're a 110% certainty).
#7 Thou Shall Not: Chase last week's scores when deciding who to trade in.
#6 Thou Shall Not: Select players that have terrible consistency issues with injury.
#5 Thou Shall Not: Select a player that you have consciously black listed from all forms of fantasy.
#4 Though Shall Not: Get trigger happy with premium players, they always come good.
#3 Though Shall Not: Trust anything AFL coaches say, especially Ross & Longmire.
#2 Though Shall Not: Use any supporter bias when choosing your team, they are two separate entities.
#1 Though Shall Not: Start without Tom Rockliff as captain.
So there you have it, my 10 commandments of AFL Fantasy. Every year I tell myself I won't break them - sure enough, I will at some point for whatever reason.
