The Tragic wraps up round one of the AFL Fantasy season with his thoughts on what happened, what didn't and what coaches should be thinking about for next round.
We'll cover how The Tragic went in the round and some of the trade targets that are on our radars, plus which players are ready to get cut from our fantasy teams. Which players impressed, and which players frustrated. We cover it all in the latest Tragic Talk AFL Fantasy Wrap.

HOW DID THE TRAGIC DO?
I was overall very pleased with my team's opening round, considering the amount of time spent over the past 4 months getting the team right.
The only thing I was upset with was the amount of players that I initially had in the team for so long and absolutely creamed it this week. Blokes like Gaff, Heppell and Redden made me look silly - though, trading them out gave me Pendles, Danger and Fyfe who weren't too shabby themselves. I have to remember to not be so greedy!
Obviously the other point that was frustrating were the rookies on my bench - the only saving grace of this was remembering the fact that the majority of other teams are in exactly the same boat. It's going to be interesting to see how coaches weave their way out of this mess over the next few rounds.
My mid pricers paid off, which was a theme for the round. I had Zak Jones, Tuohy, Beams, Crouch, Marchbank, Nankervis, Roughead, Steele, Miller and WHE. All of which could have completely blown up in my face - but instead, we're some of my top players for the round. Couldn't have asked for much more in this respect. Here is my full team score sheet and current ranking below...
Dyson Heppell - 156
Taylor Adams - 151
Andrew Gaff - 144
Rory Laird - 142
Dustin Martin - 139
Marc Murphy - 139
Scott Pendlebury - 135
Zach Merrett - 129
Tom Mitchell - 128
Mitch Duncan - 128
Robbie Gray - 21
Michael Walters - 35
Tim Taranto - 38
Seb Ross - 42
Cyril Rioli - 42
Tom Hickey - 43
Josh Gibson - 45
Mark Blicavs - 45
Nathan Hrovat - 47
Dan Hannebery - 49
Brandon Ellis - 51
Plus practically every 150k rookie that played this week aside from Dan Butler. Look for some of the above to drop dramatically in price within the next few rounds and pick yourself up a bargain when they show some form again!
Not a huge amount to report on for player injuries and suspensions this round which is always nice first up...
Nick Riewoldt - Knee Bruising (6-8 weeks)
Daniel Robinson - Left Arm (TBA)
Tendai Mzungu - Hamstring (4-5 weeks)
Joel Smith - Left Shoulder Dislocation (TBA)
Travis Varcoe - Reported, High Bump on Luke Dahlhaus
In these early round, with two trades per week in AFL Fantasy, your best option here is to fix the mistakes you made.
My biggest (and most other teams by the looks of it) were the rookies on the bench - and some even on the field. Without our rookies generating cash, the latter rounds are going to be difficult to upgrade players. Hopefully some coaches were a little more savvy with their cash and have some stashed away in the bank to do those little rookie upgrade trades so you have some stable scoring power on the bench.
If you had injuries, then obviously this is your first port of call (Volt owners, i'm looking at you). Luckily though, there wasn't much else to report injury wise from a fantasy perspective.
Personally, i'll be looking to sure up my M8 position and possibly a rookie elsewhere on the ground. I would prefer Barrett now on the bench it seems if I can do it. Jaeger to Redden would be nice, though, it's probably an over reaction this early in the week.
If you need some cash, don't be afraid to downgrade a big dog to someone like a Heppell, Murphy or Zak Jones who all look like solid scoring options and are still cheap compared to what they can output.
YOU CAN'T IGNORE IT
Issue of the round has to be the massively under-performing rookies we have sitting on our benches at the moment.
Of my eight rookies sitting on the bench, just ONE of them managed more than 50 fantasy points, while Preuss just scraped a 50 together. It was alarming to say the least. Not to mention Barrett who started on the field for me at M8 with just 56 and GHS not much better at M7 with 58.
The only hope we have is if we get some fresh blood coming in for round two with the likes of Harrison Wigg and Teia Miles perhaps getting a debut - I wouldn't hold my breathe however.
A rookie 150k player needs at least 25 points to breakeven...if they keep this pace up, our cashcows are going to resemble greyhounds by trade down time.
